In just two weeks, I’ll be taking on HBF Run for a Reason 2026 and I’ve chosen to dedicate my run to a cause that’s very close to my heart — RSPCA WA.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love animals, especially dogs. My two fur babies are such an important part of my life, and I truly believe organisations like RSPCA WA do incredible work protecting and caring for animals when they need help most.

This is actually something I’ve never attempted before, but I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.

Thanks to the amazing support and generosity so far, we’ve already raised funds for RSPCA WA, and I’d love to make an even bigger impact in these final weeks leading up to the event.

If you’re able to donate — even a small amount — it would mean so much. Every contribution helps support the important work RSPCA WA does every single day.

Why HBF Run for a Reason Matters

HBF Run for a Reason has become one of Perth’s biggest community fitness events, bringing together thousands of people each year to move their bodies, challenge themselves, and raise money for causes that matter.

What makes the event so special is that it’s not just about running. It’s about community, wellbeing, resilience, and supporting organisations that genuinely make a difference in people’s and animals’ lives.

At Movement Matters, we talk a lot about long-term health and wellbeing. Movement is such an important part of physical and mental health, whether that’s running, walking, strength training, mobility work, or simply staying active through everyday life.

Events like this remind us that health isn’t just about treatment when something goes wrong — it’s about taking proactive steps to care for ourselves and the people (and animals) around us.

Supporting RSPCA WA

RSPCA WA provides rescue, rehabilitation, veterinary care, education, and advocacy for vulnerable animals across Western Australia.

Their teams work tirelessly to protect neglected and injured animals, investigate cruelty cases, and help rehome animals into safe and loving environments.

For animal lovers, it’s hard not to admire the work they do.

Knowing that this run can help support those efforts makes every training session feel worthwhile.

Preparing for the Run

Training for an event like HBF Run for a Reason is also a great reminder of how important recovery and preparation are for the body.

Whether you’re an experienced runner or participating for the first time, a few simple things can make a huge difference:

  • Stay hydrated in the days leading up to the event
  • Prioritise good sleep and recovery
  • Warm up properly before longer runs
  • Don’t ignore tightness or ongoing soreness
  • Ease into training progressively instead of doing too much too quickly

Massage therapy can also play a valuable role in supporting recovery by reducing muscle tension, improving mobility, and helping the body recover after training.

Thank You for the Support

I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has already donated, shared the fundraising page, or offered encouragement.
